You’ve probably heard the saying “mindset is everything.” And it’s true, your mindset plays a huge role in your success or failure.

If you want to be successful, you need to train your brain for success.

In this blog post, I will be talking about the power of positive thinking and how to develop a growth mindset.

As well as discussing some tips for overcoming setbacks and achieving your goals.

So, if you’re ready to start training your brain for success, keep reading!

Why your mindset is everything?

Your mindset is everything because it dictates your actions and beliefs.

If you have a fixed mindset, you believe that your abilities are set in stone.

You’re either good at something or you’re not. And if you’re not good at something, there’s no point in trying to improve because you’ll never be as good as the people who are “naturally gifted”.

On the other hand, if you have a growth mindset, you believe that your abilities can be developed with time and effort.

You’re not born with all of the skills and knowledge that you need to be successful.

But, with hard work and dedication, anyone can learn anything they want to learn and become successful at it.

The Power Of Positive Thinking

One of the most important things you can do to train your brain for success is to start thinking positively.

“If you think you can, you’re right.”

“If you think you can’t, you’re right.”

These two quotes from Henry Ford perfectly illustrate the power of positive thinking.

What you believe is what will become true.

I’ve been coaching online business owners for years, from helping beginners get started from scratch, to established business owners scale their companies.

Without a doubt, it’s easier to help established business owners scale than it is to teach complete beginners how to earn an income on the internet and get started from scratch.

Why?

Because established business owners know what it takes to get success.

They’ve been through ups and downs, they’ve learned new skills and they know that to get success you need to have failures first.

Unfortunately, a lot of beginners don’t see having ‘failures’ as a good thing.

This again comes back to the power of positive thinking.

You can look at failure in two ways:

“I’ve failed, everyone is going to laugh at me, I’m no good at this”

Or…

“I’ve learned some great lessons, I know what doesn’t work and I now know what will work”

How To Develop A Growth Mindset?

If you want to develop a growth mindset, there are a few things you can do:

Positive Thinking

Start thinking positively about failure and accept it, embrace it and learn from it. (It’s healthy and natural to fail at things, it just means you’re human!)

Rather than looking at things in a negative light, try and overcome those thoughts and look at the positives when in a bad situation.

Maybe you’re in the middle of starting a business and you’re not getting the results you wanted currently.

Well, rather than looking at the negatives, firstly understand how far you’ve actually come.

The skills you’ve learned to get to where you are, the progress you’ve made, the change you’ve made in yourself already.

Focus On The Process And Not The Outcome

A lot of people focus on success as a destination rather than the journey it takes to get there.

Most of the students I’ve coached to build a business from scratch join my programs and want one thing…

More money!

It’s the only thing they focus on.

Until I change their mindset to looking at the process of making that money, because money is the end result.

It comes after there has been hard work and a process has taken place.

For example, to build an online affiliate marketing business which is what I do full time.

It requires people to learn basic web design skills (which is a challenge for most people), it also requires learning basic marketing, sales and negotiation skills.

Now, some people look at that and say:

“It’s too hard, I’m not good on computers, I’m not good at sales”

Well, no one is born with tech skills, they acquire them through effort and hard work.

It comes down to a positive mindset and approach to master the skills.

Believe In Yourself

If you want to get success in business or just in life, then you need to believe in yourself before anyone else will.

If you don’t think you can do something, then how do you expect anyone else to?

Change the language you use when talking about yourself, start using more positive words such as ‘I can’ and ‘I will’.

Positive energy will start flowing inside you.

Get Feedback And Criticism

A lot of people take criticism the wrong way, I have in the past!

But actually asking for feedback and receiving criticism can help you achieve success way faster.

As humans, we are typically biased to outcomes that suit our personal needs.

Maybe you launch an advert for your business or make an investment.

You’re doing it because you believe it will benefit you in either the long or short term.

Well, not everything we do is going to work out. That’s just the way of the world.

But what can happen is we can be biased towards these decisions, thinking that it will work and it’ll just take time.

When an outsider with no bias at all can instantly help you out and share their intelligence.

How you receive that feedback and criticism, will make or break you in the world of business.

I personally use it to improve my skills and knowledge.

Find Successful Role Models

Learning from someone successful in business

Whatever it is you’re trying to achieve, accomplish or learn, I can guarantee there is someone out there who is better at it than you.

If you’re trying to create a successful business, then learn from people who have successful businesses

If you’re trying to lose weight, then learn from people who are in great shape and have been through what you’re going through.

I know with 100% certainty that these people will firstly tell you that mindset is everything.

You’ll also notice the difference between their mindset and yours.

The more time you spend around positive and successful people, the higher chance you have of success.

But that also applies the other way.

The more time you spend hanging around negative people, the more it will rub off on you.

Tips for overcoming setbacks and achieving your goals

No matter how positive your thinking is, there will always be setbacks in life.

That’s just part of the human experience and a way of the world.

But, how you deal with those setbacks will determine your success or failure.

Here are a few tips for dealing with setbacks and achieving your goals:

  • Don’t take it personally. When you experience a setback, it’s important to remember that it’s not about you as a person. It’s about the situation, not you.
  • Focus on what you can control. You can’t control everything in life, but you can control your actions and your thoughts. Focus on what you can control and let go of the rest.
  • Create a plan of action. When you’re facing a setback, it’s important to have a plan of action so that you know what to do next. This will help you stay focused and avoid getting overwhelmed.
  • Find the silver lining. Every cloud has a silver lining. Try to find the positive in every situation, even if it’s just a small thing.
  • Keep going. No matter how difficult things get, don’t give up on your goals. Remember why you’re doing this and keep moving forward one step at a time.

Everything Happens For A Reason

Ok, so I’m personally a big believer in the fact that everything happens for a reason.

This is all down to what you personally believe in, but it brings me great comfort in hard times to know that ‘When something bad happens it’s going to play out in a good way’

Even if I can’t see the reason yet.

9 times out of 10, a few days, weeks or months in the future, everything makes sense.

Here’s an example.

My partner and I were bidding on a property to live in Spain, we had our offer accepted, it was the perfect place.

But all of a sudden someone outbid us at the last minute.

We were extremely disappointed, but we said well “I’m sure it’s happened for a reason”.

Although it sure didn’t seem like it, we were gutted!

2 weeks later a brand new place comes on the market, it’s cheaper, more modern and in a better location.

Boom they accept our offer!

It was a sign…?

Things like this happen to all of us each and every day.

But the key to your mental well-being and health is to focus on the positive and even in the hardest times realize that things will come good.

How To Overcome Laziness?

Man being lazy and not working on his laptop - Mindset is everything

Laziness is often just a result of poor time management, lack of motivation or procrastination.

If you find yourself being lazy, it’s important to identify the root cause so that you can address it.

Once you know what’s causing your laziness, you can start to overcome it.

Here are a few tips for overcoming laziness:

  • Set small goals. When you have a big goal, it can be overwhelming and easy to give up. But when you break it down into smaller goals, it’s much easier to stay on track and motivated.
  • Find your why. Why are you doing this? What is your purpose? When you have a strong reason for something, it’s easier to overcome laziness and push through.
  • Create a plan. Having a plan of action will help you stay on track and focused. Without a plan, it’s easy to get off track and become lazy.
  • Get organized. When you’re organized, it’s easier to stay on top of things and avoid getting overwhelmed. This will help you avoid procrastination and keep moving forward.
  • Set deadlines. Deadlines can be a great motivator. When you have a deadline, it’s important to get things done so that you don’t miss it. This can help you overcome laziness and get things done.
  • Take breaks. It’s important to take breaks so that you don’t burn out or get too stressed out.
  • Eat healthy foods. The food you put in your body will massively determine your energy levels, as well as your focus.

A big reason that people are lazy is due to a lack of vision and purpose.

With a lack of vision and purpose, you have no reason to be motivated, hence laziness.

Training your mind and focusing hard on having a growth mindset will help with this.

How To Overcome Limiting Beliefs?

It’s firstly important to understand that limiting beliefs are often based on fear.

They keep us from taking risks, trying new things or going after our dreams.

A lot of the time they stem from the people around you, friends, family or even your upbringing.

Parents constantly saying it’s “impossible to build a business, make lots of money and create success“, often rub these beliefs onto their children.

Without understanding the negative and mental impact this has on a child’s mindset as they grow up.

If you want to overcome your limiting beliefs, it’s important to first identify them.

Once you know what they are, you can start to work on changing them.

Here are a few tips for overcoming your limiting beliefs:

  • Identify your fears. What is it that you’re afraid of? Once you know what your fears are, you can start to address them.
  • Challenge your beliefs. Are your beliefs really true? Why do you believe what you believe? When you start to challenge your beliefs, you can start to see that they may not be as true as you thought.
  • Take action. Once you’ve identified your fears and challenged your beliefs, it’s time to take action. This means facing your fears and doing something despite them.
  • Change your mindset. A big part of overcoming your limiting beliefs is changing your mindset. Instead of thinking that you can’t do something, start thinking that you can.
  • Visualize success. See yourself achieving what it is that you want to achieve. Paint a mental image in your mind of your future self reaching your goals.
  • Believe in yourself. The most important thing is to believe in yourself. You have to believe that you can overcome your fears and achieve your goals.

If you want to overcome your limiting beliefs, start by changing your mindset.

Train your brain to think differently about yourself and what’s possible for you.

When you do this, anything becomes possible.

How To Be More Motivated?

Have you ever wondered why you lack the motivation to do things?

Maybe it’s going to the gym, learning a new skill, building a business or making the effort to socialize.

Here’s how to change your state of mind with actions you can take today.

Healthy Eating

A lot of the time we lack motivation and positive thoughts because our body is being overloaded and in a state of stress.

This is due to what we put into our bodies:

  • Eating too much-processed food
  • Drinking too much booze
  • Eating too much sugar
  • Not sleeping enough.

Basically not having a healthy lifestyle.

The first thing you want to do is cut all of the above out and replace it with a clean healthy diet such as clean meats, vegetables, fruits and carbs.

Within a matter of days, you’ll feel 10 times better.

The Dopamine Effect

Next up, is understanding that your brain does not want success, it actually wants whatever generates the most dopamine.

If you’re spending countless hours playing video games, watching TV or sitting on social media.

Your brain will start to like this and constantly draw you back to it as it’s easy.

Rather than giving you the willpower and mental energy to focus on what you want to achieve.

So what’s the solution?

Cut it out of your life.

Might not be easy for the first few weeks.

But once removed your brain will get bored and start to focus on whatever it is you’re doing (the productive part).

It’ll start to become obsessed with the good thing that you want to create or build.

Hence driving back the motivation into your life.

Wrap Up

Mindset is everything because it shapes our thinking which then affects our actions and decisions.

A fixed mindset believes that our traits are set in stone whereas a growth mindset sees traits as something that can be improved with time and effort.

A fixed mindset can limit our potential and cause us to give up easily.

A growth mindset, on the other hand, helps us persevere through challenges and continue learning even in the face of setbacks.

The first step to changing our mindset is becoming aware of it. Once we’re aware of our thoughts and how they’re affecting our actions, we can start to change them.

Your mindset will help you achieve more success than you could possibly imagine and create the life you’ve always wanted.

But only if you are willing to work on it.
